This blog post is crazy late but this backyard covid-era Lake Oswego wedding deserves a spot on the blog! It was so beautiful and is a great example of an incredibly well executed backyard wedding! The old assumption that backyard weddings include paper plates and lack sophistication can go out the window. Keep scrolling and you’ll see what I mean!
Natasha and Danny were thrown for a loop, along with thousands of other couples when covid hit. Having to abide by ever changing state and local regulations, managing vendors preferences, and dwindling down the guest list. Fortunately, they had always planned to get married at a family friends gorgeous space in Lake Oswego, Oregon. It was the perfect backyard space for a wedding with a dedicated ceremony stage (fire pit area), pool, reception area, and dance floor (the basketball court). The property was fully blooming and the grounds were incredible!
Since their guest list had to be cut down quite a lot, they had a car parade where the people who couldn’t attend got to say hello and were handed some to-go desserts. In that moment I could feel myself welling up as the emotion of being a part of this amazing couples story and the state of the world hit me. Regardless of the circumstances, everything came together, as it always does.
It was extra special to be a part of Natasha and Danny’s wedding day in Lake Oswego because I’ve been along their journey for awhile now. Danny reached out to me in October of 2019 for me to capture their surprise proposal in NW Portland. Then in June 2020 we all went to Rowena Crest in the Columbia Gorge for a glowy golden hour engagement session. Finally in August of 2020 I got to be there to help them say “I do”! In addition, I get to shoot Natasha’s sisters wedding in 2022! These two and their families are good good people and I’m grateful to know them.
If you want some more inspiration for backyard weddings here’s another one from 2020 that took place in Vancouver, Washington.
