Astoria, Oregon Engagement | Phillip & Sara
Astoria might be my new favorite little Oregon coastal town! This engagement session with Phillip and Sara in downtown Astoria, Oregon was so much freaking fun. They call Astoria the little San Francisco and as someone who is a Bay Area native I can totally see why! The steep roads, waterfront feel with seals barking and salty air, old historic homes, and even a Pier 39 (much different than the one in SF!) gave me nostalgia of home for sure.
Sara actually works with the department of commerce in Astoria so she had a very organized spreadsheet with all the different spots she loves and we were able to hit a handful in our 90 minute session! I felt like I was getting a personal tour of the town too which made it extra special! I’m looking forward to going back to Astoria on a nice sunny day with my hubby and enjoying some yummy food and breweries!
Here’s a list of the places in Astoria we were able to hit along our journey!
- Pier 39. Again, not the touristy one in San Fran. It’s a spot you could drive (or walk if you wanted) out to that had a nice view of the water, a couple restaurants, and a museum!
- Pigeon Steps. We drove up a few very steep roads to get up nice and high for a beautiful view of Astoria!
- 13th Street Painted Alley. Right in downtown there’s a super fun colorful alley way with overhead string lights that made for a couple fun shots.
- West Basin Marina/Astoria Bridge. We walked among the boats, along the docks, and then finished up with an epic view of the Astoria-Megler Bridge at blue hour.
If you want an engagement shoot with a coastal feel but don’t necessarily want to go to the beach Astoria, Oregon is a great option. There is a beautiful beach about 10-15 minutes from downtown as well so its totally doable to pair both for an engagement session. You can even make it into a date weekend and spend the night at one of Astoria’s quaint hotels. Why not make an event out of it?!
