Cannon Beach Engagement | Melanie & Ryan
An engagement session at the beautiful Cannon Beach, Oregon is hard to beat. People come from all over the world to see Haystack Rock and it’s basically in our own backyard. If you’re looking to make a day out of it I highly recommend stopping by Pelican Brewing Company for some lunch and maybe even wandering through Ecola State Park. Or just keep it simple and take a walk on the sand – you won’t be disappointed!
How did I get so lucky to live incredibly close to epic coastal beaches and mountains galore? Plus my clients are the cutest ever! I’m grateful for it all. Melanie and Ryan actually got engaged at Haystack Rock so it was extra special to go back to take their engagement photos! We showed up to Cannon Beach on a summer Friday evening, unsure of how the crowds would be. Especially since the pandemic began, finding uncrowded outdoor spaces has been a challenge, and I had some concerns over finding quiet spots for us to shoot. We were pleasantly surprised!
Pro-tip: instead of parking downtown and walking South to Haystack rock do the opposite. Park south of the rock and walk North! The parking is residential areas I find to be much easier and the beach in that stretch tends to be less busy, especially during the week.
One of the highlights of engagement sessions is getting to play with different ideas and have a relaxed non-rushed environment, often unlike the wedding day. This means my clients get to bring their dogs to our sessions and its my favorite thing ever! Their two little dachshunds chased them around the beach and it was pure joy.
The sunset absolutely SHOWED UP for us this Friday evening, the glow and colors were unreal. I was obsessed with the outfits Melanie chose for them to wear for this coastal engagement session. The simplicity of the black against the neutral tones of the coast were so perfect. Overall, as you can see these two are absolute babes and I can’t wait for their wedding in 2021!
