So happy you’re here! Continue reading to follow along this dreamy and moody beach session with Lizzie & Matt on the Oregon Coast. We scheduled this Cape Kiwanda engagement photoshoot a couple months prior to the date, knowing that a mid November beach day could go one of two ways. Wet and cold or overcast. We got super lucky as it was the only dry day during that week. The sunset we got at the end of the night was not something we expected and it was beyond worth staying to the end!
I love a good beach engagement session. This was only my second time shooting at Cape Kiwanda and I am itching to go back! Who wants to go with?! I could shoot here every week and never get tired of it. The vibrant colors of the rock faces and insane views once you make the short trek up the dunes are incredible. There’s a variety of different backdrops to shoot in which always keeps things interesting and diverse!
Headlands Lodge is a very dog friendly beautiful hotel right on the beach. I’ve personally stayed there and can’t wait to go again someday. Its cozy and stylish all at the same time. There’s big claw foot tubs in the rooms, a special dog wash station as you come back in from romping on the beach, and Pendleton everywhere (the keys to my heart truly). Cape Kiwanda is something special but the whole Oregon and Washington coast offer so much as far as scenery for photos. If the beach isn’t your thing check out my last blog post for some other location ideas here!
Lizzie & Matt met at Willamette University, where we all graduated from! Matt was even in the same fraternity as my hubby! It had been years since we’d seen each other and I just love that I’m able to reconnect with people I may not have otherwise through this job! They quietly started seeing each other our senior year so I never even really saw them together. It was sweet to see their relationship with one another (for the first time!) and how much love there is here. Even though they were very nervous to have photos taken I’d say they did AMAZING!! I mean look how adorable they are?!? Hope to help them capture their beautiful wedding day this year or next!
They even brought their sweet golden retriever, Lucy, who frolicked around the next beach we stopped at for some golden hour and then a fiery sunset (scroll all the way down to find it)! I had my corgi, Ava, and golden, Aspen, waiting in my car too so they all got to play at the end- it was so fun to watch them run free together. BRING YOUR DOG. Always. I mean I might be biased but I love furbabies so yes do it.
Need a photographer for your wedding or elopement at the coast? Reach out! I’d love to hear about what you’re dreaming up!
