Did you know you can get married at an Airbnb? This small intimate wedding along the Oregon Coast in Lincoln City was at a cute rental house just steps away from the ocean. Now a days there are so many rental home companies: VRBO, Airbnb, Vacasa, and lots of local companies! You will want to make sure that the property you are looking at does allow events to be held there because sometimes they don’t or they have strict guest count limits or rules. It’s always importance to respect the rules first and foremost as it is someone’s home.
There are certainly a number of pros and cons to using a rental home (or any home for that matter!) as your wedding or elopement venue. The biggest pro is that you, generally, have more flexibility and options! There are only so many traditional wedding venues – most of them booking out a year or more in advance and having high minimums. Especially if you are having a small guest count or eloping then renting a home is an amazing option! There’s some really cool and unique rentals to check out – if you are set on a specific rental try to be flexible on your date. The biggest con is that it’s not a venue, meaning you don’t have staff on hand, tables and chairs provided, catering, etc. You will have to (most likely) bring in rentals and everything you would need through other vendors. It can be more work on the front end, depending on the situation, but you will have a lot more control over the outcome.
This microwedding in Lincoln City was literally right across the street from the beach and had a cute backyard area with space for tables/chairs, lawn games, and even a fire pit! Kelsey is a yoga teacher at a studio in Vancouver called Parallel 45 that I used to teach at. Danny is an amazing chef and his friends came together to make an epic taco bar buffet for all the guests. This day was full of love and support from all of their most important people. Like I said, when you have an Airbnb wedding there’s no staff on hand, and this wedding was a perfect example of everyone coming together to help. Some guests brought dessert, some carried the florals to the beach for the ceremony, one friend DJ’ed, some cooked, and everyone provided lots of love and moral support to make sure it turned out beautifully. As a photographer, I love to watch days like this where the team effort is everything! Kelsey and Danny are adventurers at heart and I can’t wait to see all the mountains they climb up and shred down together.
