This Lake Tahoe elopement (and big wedding!) has got to be one of my favorites of all time. One, because I got married in Truckee (for those of you unfamiliar with the area it’s one of the towns in the Lake Tahoe area) and this whole area is like home for me. Secondly, Jade and Max are just amazing humans, their friends and family were so kind, and of course their cutie pups Bruce and Wilson came along for the journey. Jade and Max wanted to celebrate with their people but also wanted adventure elopement portraits so they did the best of both worlds.
The first day they had a larger wedding in Reno where they live just outside of Lake Tahoe. The ceremony was in a cute little garden space called The Sierra Water Gardens and the reception was held at The Depot downtown in Reno. This blog post would be much too long to include it all so I just am sharing the adventure part of their celebration! The next day we headed up the mountain a bit and hiked a short trail to get up to see unreal views of the surrounding mountains and of course the star of the show, Lake Tahoe. It was quite cold and windy but we got such a beautiful evening with a gorgeous golden hour and sunset. Can we have a moment for her unreal Rue de Seine dress too!!? It had been my dream forever to photograph a bride in one of their dresses and it was literal perfection on Jade.
Like I said, Tahoe will always have a really special place in my heart. It’s beautiful in the winter with snow covered everything and epic winter sports but it really fills me up in the summer when it’s warm, the hiking is amazing, going out on the lake or the Truckee river is a blast, and it’s good vibes only. Always looking forward to being back in this place. The opportunity for amazing adventure elopements, weddings, and portraits are endless in the Lake Tahoe area. Jade is a fellow wedding photographer and it was such an honor to be chosen to capture this chapter of their love story!
