Sisters and Bend Oregon are a special place. Beautiful mountains, high desert vibes, and cozy forests like this one. Intimate weddings are my favorite. This intimate woodland wedding in Sisters, OR was definitely a favorite. I’ve never gotten so many Instagram direct messages from posting behind the scenes footage of people asking where this was! Unfortunately for them, this is a private property and the home of one of Kaila’s family members. What a truly special place for them to say I do.
Some highlights of the day (from my perspective) included the sunlight pouring through the trees during their ceremony in the most perfect way, taking portraits in the forest that reminded me very much of my own wedding photos, teary eyed toasts, a run down to the general store and a quick stroll by the river at sunset, and a first dance under the string lights.
The vibe of intimate weddings like this one, especially in the summer or early fall when it’s warm and the sun is out just completely fill me up. They are chill, no one is running around stressed, I get to know the family and friends so much more, and for my couples the difference is so clear. They get to absorb their day and be more present than if they were trying to spend time with 100+ people. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with big weddings if that’s in your heart but these are just my observations from working events of a variety of guest counts. My advice: when you are starting to plan your wedding think about what is MOST important to you and how to achieve that. There’s no right or wrong, just what feels honest and true to you and your partner!
