For this session I had the pleasure of meeting Tommie & BJ, who are recently engaged, and so fun to work with. We got to explore Pittock Mansion and the Eastbank Esplanade, which is on the Willamette River waterfront. I’m trying to keep up with the blogs friends but they may be coming in a bit slower until I catch up on editing!
Tommie contacted me because I had photographed a friend of hers on the coast a few months ago – GUYS I LOVE REFERRALS! Not only does it make me feel so grateful and good about my work but I get to then connect with their friends and hopefully the trail keeps going!
The story with these two is that they met as young adults (high school) but Tommie was not interested. She claims BJ was very persistent but nothing stuck until they got older and reconnected years later. Now they are soon to have a sweet blended family and tie the knot in September of next year.
This happened to be my first time shooting at both of these locations and I would totally go back! Pittock Mansion wasn’t too crowded on a Friday afternoon (probably due to the probability of rain) and had lots of good spots for privacy and views.
These two claimed right away they did not like taking photos and that they weren’t good at it… I beg to differ (see above).
With plenty of time left in our session after shooting at Pittock Mansion we decided to zip down to the waterfront for some photos at Eastbank Esplanade. It was easy parking, super accessible, and also would highly recommend this spot for photos with a “city vibe.”
This spot, in my opinion, provided one of the best views of the Portland city skyline. For these two it was perfect- they are city folk at heart. I can just imagine a picture perfect sunset here… who’s in?!
Now that I’ve properly spammed you with photos… last but not least we finished off at this beautiful Willow tree. Tommie & BJ actually spotted it as I was focused on looking for a dock landing to use and asked if we could go take pictures near it. So naturally I had them climb up under it. The result speaks for itself.

If you’ve made it to the end of this post… Bravo!! Thanks for coming along another love story and I hope you come back soon!
